Another Homecoming Fair in the Books! Looking Ahead to Building Bigger and Even Better!

by Submitted by County Judge Executive Shane Gabbard

Another Jackson County Fair and Homecoming is in the books. We had an awesome turnout from within our community and without as many people flocked down Water Street for entertainment, shopping, food and games for the kids. The entertainment from Thursday through Saturday was great. The car show and parade Saturday were excellent with many participants in both events. The weather was hot but it didn't seem to hinder people from coming and enjoying festivities. The rain and storms came in late Saturday evening and we were forced to call off the Resurrection concert. The Sound equipment that is used for the festivities is very expensive and the storms were producing a lot of lightning. Public safety is our number one concern so we felt it best to go ahead and close everything down. I want to thank our Jackson County Fair Board, who works so hard year-round to plan and structure the Fair, our first responders, who put others safety before their own, JCEM who works diligently to make sure every responder has what they need to provide public safety and service, and lastly every vendor, participant and citizen that participated. It was all in all a great weekend.
Exciting things are happening in McKee! We invite all community members to come down to the Jackson County Public Library to learn about the amazing new Lakes Summitplex project. The meeting will be held on Saturday September 28th at 8:30 am. This is your chance to hear about the plans, see the designs, and share your thoughts on what you'd love to see at this incredible new facility. This is a free community event, and we encourage all locals to attend. Your input is valuable in shaping the future of our town. Don't miss out on being part of something great!
We look forward to seeing you there!
