Evelyn Gibson Obituary

Evelyn Gibson was born on August 29, 1936, in Harlan, KY and departed this

life Wednesday, October 23, 2024, at St. Vincent's Riverside Hospital in

Jacksonville, FL, at the age of 88. She was the daughter of the late Raymond

Douglas Delph and Josephine (Fain) Delph.

   Evelyn was united in marriage to the love of her life Eugene "Gene" Gibson

on June 27, 1953. They were married for sixty-three years and Gene passed in

2016. Six children were born to them: Roy Eugene (Renee) Gibson of Rutledge,

GA; Dudley "Doug" Gibson (deceased); Eunice Gail Jones of Thomson, GA;

Elaine Gibson (deceased); Leslie Carolyn Sparta of McKee, KY; and Carl

"Pete" Gibson of Folkston, GA. She is also survived by her daughter-in-law

Sandra Gibson of Melbourne, FL; her sister, Geraldine Amburgy of Marion, IN;

sister, Doris (Kennard) Becker of Marion, IN; sister, Mary Gabbard of McKee,

KY; and her brother, Charles E. Delph of Corbin, KY. She was blessed with

nine grandchildren and 15 great-grandchildren.

   Evelyn was a member of the Bradshaw Hills Baptist Church, McKee, KY.

 

Visitation will be Friday, November 1, 2024 at 6pm at Lakes Funeral Home in

McKee, KY. Funeral services will be held on Saturday, November 2, 2024 at 11 am

at Lakes Funeral Home with Bro. Doug Wilson officiating. Burial to follow in

the McHargue Cemetery in Lily, KY. Pallbearers include; Carl “Pete”, Roy, Brandon and Bradley Gibson, Neil Snyder and Michael Bunch

Honorary Pallbearers: Jacob Payne and Henry Gibson.
