JCHS Generals Coaches Corner
The Generals traveled to OBI last week for a 49th District match-up. The Generals and Mountaineers engaged in a battle. The game was nip and tuck until the Generals advanced to a 7-point lead early in the 4th quarter. The Mountaineers didn't lie down as they continued to fight back. The Generals committed a foul with 2 minutes to go up 4 and also got a technical foul called on a player for taunting, according to the ref. This turned into a 6 point trip for the Mountaineers giving them a 2 point lead. The Generals had two drives to tie but came up short and had to foul. The Generals fell 51-48 in the first-round match-up. The JV also lost in a close one 41-37.

The Generals must continue to work on cutting down turnovers and making good decisions on the offensive end!!
The Generals F and JV played Bell County on 12-21-24 at Bell County. The Freshman dropped a close decision as they lost by 4 and the JV also fell in defeat. Both games were very good experiences for the younger guys through the holidays. The Generals also had their team Christmas meal at 2 Amigos in Barbourville on Sat evening.
The Generals started 1st Round play in The Tim Short-Redmond Classic at Bell County on 12-20-24 as they faced off against Campbell County, Tenn. Point Guard Braxton Clemmons went down with a turned ankle early in the 1st quarter and was done for the tourney. The Generals battled hard and managed to exchange leads with Campbell County several times throughout the game. The Generals came up short as they lost 63-54.

The Second Round game saw the Generals play the Pirates of Belfry who earlier defeated the Commodores of PCC by 20 points. This is the second-best opponent the Generals have faced this season only behind the Corbin Redhounds. Quite a test for the young Generals. The Generals played one of their best games of the year as they did everything they needed to do besides close with the win as they fell 69-64. The Generals are steadily improving as the young season progresses with the most coachable, hardworking team we've had in a while.

The Generals will take on East Ridge Tenn in the consolation game 12-23-24 at 3 pm at BCHS.
The Generals JV will play Monday morning, 12-23-24, at South Laurel as they take on Bell County and South Laurel.
The Generals V and JV will play Dec 27th and 28th in the Woodmen Classic at Morgan County as they will face off with West Carter and Morgan County.
