JCMS Generals Regular Season Comes to an End
Our regular season has officially come to an end. On Thursday December 19th, the 6th, 7th, and 8th grade boys traveled to Corbin to face the Redhounds again. The 6th grade team started off slow on offense, scoring less than double digits the entire first half of play, but the defense was good as we held Corbin to only 12 points in the first half. In the second half we found our stride and began scoring, but in the end Corbin took us by 12. The 7th grade boys came in hot and played the first half amazingly, moving the ball around, finding open shots, and attacking the glass. The defense was great as well. In the second half we slipped a little, but were able to gain our composure and get the win over Corbin. The 8th grade started out hot, making our first four shots from behind the 3 point line. And were able to keep the ball moving around finding open shots. And our defense was stellar as we were able to make a lot of stops. We went into halftime with a 12 point lead over the Redhounds. In the second half we started to slip a little on offense and defense, and some of our players got into foul trouble. The Redhounds bounced back and got it within one point, but the Generals were able to make a few key plays, and get a few key stops to get the win over Corbin. We're so proud of all our teams, and it has been a great pleasure working with all of these boys. I would like to take a moment to thank all of the coaching staff for the hard work they all put in this season. Our head coach for all three teams, Kelvin Bingham, has plenty of years of experience and led our teams to some good victories this season. Our 6th grade assistant coach Robbie Thomas spent a lot of time working with our 6th graders helping them to succeed. In the 7th grade we had assistant coaches Shawn Roland who helped a lot with our forwards and centers, showing them how to play the post, and Coach Brian Gabbard who helped a lot with our offensive plays. In the 8th grade we had assistant coach Joey Taylor who worked a lot with our guys, doing a lot of drills with them, and working with them on defense. I had the honor of assisting with all three of our teams, and enjoyed every minute of working with these guys. Thank you to everyone who came out to support the Generals this season!
