Friday, October 30th, the Generals took on the Pineville Mountain Lions in a Senior Night clash. Heading into the game, the Mountain Lions had an upper hand in previous matchups. Coach kept the boys disciplined that "this was Senior Night, do it for them!"
At the start, the Mountain Lions got off to a quick start by getting on the board first with back to back drives in the first quarter of 16-0. Then, the second quarter was nearly the same with another Touchdown for the Mountain Lions that brought a 22-0 setback for the Generals. At the end of the 2nd Qtr, the Generals began to claw back with 8 seconds left with a TD pass from Luke Hisel to Wyatt Dunn and a 2 PT conversion from Jake Jones!
The momentum from being down 22, started trending upward when the Generals went to the half scoring. Starting the 3rd quarter, the play started off slow... but the Generals momentum kept shifting. A deep 32-yard pass from Wyatt Dunn caught by receiver Kendrick Dezarn led to the Generals being in the red zone! That led to a TD pass to Jake Jones for the score to bring the deficit to within 8.
The heart of the Generals didn't stop; they regained the ball by major defensive stops which led them to be in Pineville territory. A big gain pass from Dunn to the wide-out Jones led to a neck and neck game, still with the Lions in front 22-20. That led to the end of the 3rd Qtr, and the 4th Qtr which was a battle of Lions & Generals!
Then Generals began to pick up the steam with five minutes left in the 4th Qtr, with a huge yard gainer in the redzone, a rush by Jones. That led to a up the gut rush by Senior, Davon Seals for 6 and a 2 PT conversion by Jones to bring the Generals in front 28-22... Pineville regained offensively, but the defense and penalties stood the test the game during the 2nd half especially in the 4th Qtr.
Back-to-back penalties hurt the Lions, and then Generals stood strong to defend especially by Landon Morris and Lane Marcum with some key rack-attack stops! With a game winning tackle to stop the QB, by Darrick Gabbard sealed the deal for the Boys from McKee! This marked a first win against the Mountain Lions ever, on Senior Night, and a come-back putting up 28 straight points.
The boys from McKee will open up in the KHSAA 2A State Playoffs against Walton Verona in Boone County on Friday, November 6th starting at 7:00 PM! Come support your Generals as they strive to win a playoff game!
Grateful for our Seniors: #44 Davon Seals, #5 Deegan Schlenk, #77 Juan Rivera, #92 Brayden Vickers, #64 Lucas Turner, #78 Keaten Ross, and #76 Neil Gabbard
