Starting the Year Off Right

On January 2nd, the Jackson County Generals Varsity Basketball team played their fourth game of the season against Middlesboro, which resulted in a substantial home-court victory of 82-55.
Two senior players proved to be great assets on this night, Keagan Ward and Peyton Singleton. Neither player had a turnover during their sizable contributions to the team's fifth win of the season. Ward boasted a whopping 37 points and 20 rebounds with Singleton posting yet another double-double of 19 points and 10 rebounds. These players, after years of growing in the sport alongside each other, work best when they are in the paint together.
This game came after quite a tough losing streak and a 1 and 1 in the Woodmen Life Classic, a home-court win was long awaited - especially one of this size. Whether it be moral or preparation, something certainly turned on in the Generals leading into the new year. When Peyton Singleton was asked what he felt had shifted from the last few games to the night, he stated - "Well definitely playing team ball and wanting to win this game - wanting to play Saturday and hopefully win All-A."
This game has proved that all things are possible for the Generals; when a team works relentlessly and doesn't allow a few losses to alter their attitude, the sky is the limit.
