The Generals baseball season opened up on Monday, March 17, against the Southwestern High School Warriors. The team held a 2-0 lead entering the 4th inning. Southwestern would rally and score 4 runs in the 4th and then pull away in the 5th, winning by a score of 22-3.

The Generals returned to action on Tuesday on the road against Rockcastle County. Cayden Farmer was on the bump and pitched well. The team made a few costly errors and recorded only 2 hits, falling 8-0.

Back in action on Thursday, the Generals faced OBI. The team rebounded and won that game 16-0 in 3 innings. Starting pitcher Jonathan Roark picked up the win, throwing 1 inning striking out 2. Braxton Clemons followed with 1 scoreless inning striking out 3, as did Bradyn Lainhart in his 1 inning on the bump.

On Friday, the 21st, the Generals were once again in action at home against the Williamsburg Yellowjackets. The team really started to hit the ball well for the first time this year. We were led on offense by Cayden Farmer who went 3-4 with a run, 2 doubles, and 2 RBI. Luke Elam contributed with a 3-5 effort with 2 RBI. Michael Sparks and Elijah Thomas each had two hits and Braxton and Ashton Clemons each recorded a hit as well. On the mound, freshman Jameson Roark got the start and pitched 3 innings giving up 2 runs (1 earned) while striking out 7 in picking up the win. Freshman Wyatt Dunn came into the game and pitched the final 3 frames giving up only 2 walks while striking out 2 to pick up his first save of the season. The Generals would win the contest 12-2 in 6 innings.

The Generals once again played in front of the home crowd for a varsity double header against Casey County on Saturday the 22nd. Davon Seals was the starting pitcher in game I of the double header pitching two innings, giving up only one hit, while striking out four in picking up the win. The game was finished off by freshman Maddox Vaughn who pitched a scoreless inning in relief while striking out 3. The Generals were led on offense in game I by Cayden Farmer, Ashton Clemons, and Michael Sparks all collecting two hits a piece. They would receive one hit a piece from Luke Elam, Jackson Lakes, and Davon Seals as well, leading to the 16-0 win.

In Game two of the double header, freshman Jonathan Roark started the game and threw a complete game, picking up the win, giving up 1 run (un-earned), on 2 hits, 0 walks while striking out 8. On offense the Generals got major efforts from Michael Sparks and Luke Elam each picking up 2 hits. The team also got 1 hit each from Braxton Clemons and Cayden Farmer in route to the 10-1 win, running the team's season record to 4-2.

Week II of the season will bring on a couple of different challenges. The team begins All-A tournament play on Tuesday at Middlesboro. If the team wins on Tuesday night, it would host Harlan Ind. at home on Wednesday for the second round. If the generals win each of those days, the championship is scheduled to be played on the road against the winner from the other side of the bracket.

Following the All-A championship on Thursday, the Generals travel to Leslie County for a V and JV set against the Eagles and close up the week by traveling to Frankfort for two JV only games to close out the week prior to the trip to Fort Walton Beach.

Go Generals!
