Carolyn Joan Hays, passed away peacefully on April 15, 2025, in
Richmond, Kentucky. Born on May 23, 1943, in Gray Hawk, Kentucky,
Carolyn’s life was a testament to the power of love, family, and faith.
Preceded in death by her parents, Herbert and Mary Dalton Edwards, and
her sister, Janet Sowder, Carolyn’s legacy is carried on by her devoted
husband, Ermon Hays, and her loving children, Sheila (James) Newman,
Robert Hays, and Mary Ellen (Matt) Belcher. Her spirit will forever be
reflected in the lives of her brother, Donald (Eliza) Edwards, her adored
grandchildren, Felicia (Matt) Cecil, Amber Phelps, and Allison Adams, and
her cherished great-grandchildren, Aubrey Reeves, Preston Cecil, and
Wesley Short. Carolyn’s memory will also be treasured by a host of
extended family members and dear friends who were blessed to know her.
A dedicated homemaker, Carolyn poured her heart into creating a warm
and welcoming home for all who entered. Her involvement in the
community was marked by her regular attendance and participation at the
Senior Citizens Center and her unwavering faith, which she nurtured at
Kingdom Hall in Mt. Vernon.
The family accepted friends and family on Thursday, April 17, 2025,
