Opal King Parrett Obituary

Opal King Parrett was born October 26, 1942 in Dabolt, KY.

Her parents are the late Lige and Datha (Baldwin)King. She was one of six children: Alpha (JC) Parrett, Mary, Ruth (Dillard) Parrett, Ralph (Luevernia) King and Janice (Jr) Shackelford.

On June 24, 1960 she married James (Jim) Parrett. They were blessed with four children, Sharon Bush of London, KY, Karen (David) Noe of Danville, KY, Michael (Sheila) Parrett, Carol (Jeff) Adkins both of Annville, KY.

and a special friend/daughter, Mary Bowles, McKee, KY

After Jim’s death on May 5, 1977 she married Lewis Boggs on February 19, 1979, who also preceded her in death on March 6, 2012.

She was also preceded in death by her parents, three siblings, and two great grandchildren.

She has been blessed with seven grandchildren, Tiffany (Darren) Mathis, Nick Hubbard, Matthew (Ashlee) Noe, Lacey (Chris) McKinney, LaShei (Josh) Smith, Latasha (Jon) Anderson and MiKara Adkins and 19 great grandchildren.

She held several jobs during her life but retired from the US Government Postal Service, where she worked approximately 32 Years.

Her greatest love was her Savior! She was saved at age 10 and has worked in church all her life holding various positions including Sunday School teacher and song leader. She is remembered for her anointed singing and guitar playing which she began at age 12.

She went to Jackson Manor on Wednesdays as part of the King Sisters and her church group ministering with guitar and song for over 35 years.

She was a founding member of Olde Path Holiness Church in Danville KY.

Her love for Jesus showed through in all she did whether it was singing, working, volunteering or just visiting! Her life has been an example and a light for all to see and follow!

Funeral services were held 2:00 PM Sunday, September 10, 2023, at the Annville Holiness Church with Bros. Michael Parrett, David Noe, Matthew Noe, Chris McKinney, Darren Cunagin and John Gabbard officiating. Burial to follow in the Seven Pines Cemetery. Pallbearers: Josh Smith, Jon Anderson, Chris McKinney, Matthew Noe, Darren Mathis, Kenny Shackelford, Malachi Noe and Jason Davis. Honorary pallbearers: Ronnie, Donnie, Don, Jeff, Tony & Wendell Parrett, Mike King and Steve Shackelford. Lakes Funeral Home was in charge of arrangements. www.lakesfuneralhomemckee.com
