March 04, 2025
Sixteen people at a Bardstown nursing home are being treated for smoke inhalation after a fire this morning.
Firefighters arrived at Landmark Nursing Home at 6:37 a.m., finding fire from a window. They quickly controlled it, preventing attic damage. The fire resulted from an HVAC unit's electrical failure.
Thirteen residents and three staff needed treatment for non-life-threatening injuries. A police officer also suffered smoke inhalation and was hospitalized. Buses transported 21 residents to another facility in Louisville.
A healthy Jackson County requires great community news.
