Man Arrested in Baton Rouge, LA for Stealing Bitcoin Machines from McKee, KY

Police arrested a man after 247 stolen Bitcoin machines and several Honda UTVs were found in Baton Rouge.
The Baton Rouge Police Department said they began investigating the theft of the Bitcoin mining machines that were reported stolen out of McKee, Kentucky on July 1.

“After coming up with a plan of action, 3rd District officers assisted Burglary detectives in attempts to recover the stolen property,” police said.
Detectives found the location of the stolen property and developed a possible suspect. Officers arrived at an abandoned facility on Sharp Road and took Mohammed Khaled, 37, into custody.
BRPD said they found all 247 stolen Bitcoin machines at this location, as well as four Honda UTVs that were reported stolen out of Summer, Washington.
Khaled was booked into the East Baton Rouge Parish Prison for illegal possession of stolen property. Police said the investigation is still open.
“The total recovery value of the machines and the UTVs was approximately $850,000 and one of the largest, single property recoveries by the BRPD Burglary Division,” police said.
