JCMS FBLA Members Represented Well in the State Competition
In the first year that FBLA was a middle level club at JCMS in 2024, the students won 2 state championships and had a national runner-up. This year, the club made progress in terms of memberships and awards. Under the guidance of FBLA advisor, Russ Shearer, the club won 6 state championship events and had 3 second place finishes and 3 third place finishes.
FBLA middle levels are growing state wide with this year's State Leadership Conference having over 240 competitors. In one event, the team of McKenzie Jackson, Chase Shearer, and Addi Wilson brought home the state title in Exploring Business Issues for the second consecutive year. Both our presentation groups and testing students did well. Shearer stated, "It's incredible to see the effort and dedication that the students put into these competitions. FBLA state competition is one of my favorite days of the year because we get to celebrate the dedication and hard work of some of our best and brightest students. I know personally that FBLA can change the course of students' lives having been an FBLA student nearly 30 years ago at Estill County. I felt that it was important to start the club when I was given a chance at JCMS."
